Distribution pattern of Helminthes parasites in Channa punctatus

The main aim of the present study is to expand knowledge about the prevalence and distribution pattern of helminth parasites in selected freshwater fish from River Gomti, Lucknow. The objectives of the present study were planned with the following to study the prevalence of helminth parasites in the selected fish Channa punctatus. A detailed analysis was conducted to find out the prevalence, abundance, intensity and index of infection of helminth parasites according to the body weight, body length of the fishes. During the present investigation, the prevalence, abundance, intensity and index of infection of genus Pallisentis was found at the rate of 50.94%, 1.21, 2.38 and 0.61 respectively. A high degree of infestation with helminth parasites in fresh water fish C. punctatus causes serious health concerns.
